My Daughters’ Friends
Jack’s Story
Nobody talks to me anymore! The other week I walked into the church service, and my daughters were immediately chatting about their week, the weather, their toys, with a vast collection of people of all different ages and backgrounds. They have been befriended by people who are genuinely interested in how they are, and what they have been up to. These same people then play games with them, and teach them new things.
A year ago I didn’t know if that would be possible. In the first year of their lives, the country went into lockdown because of the covid-19 pandemic. For the next couple of years they spent nearly all their time with me and their mother, getting to know very few other people. The experience left them very shy around other people, and nervous of crowds.
In March 2022, two years after lockdown began, we had a dedication service for Flo and Lily in the Tab. In the service we gave thanks to God for the gift of our daughters, but we also heard the Tab church family make promises to love them, support them, pray for them and befriend them.
The friendship they have found in the Tab church family is helping them develop and grow, and overcoming the trauma of lockdown. I thank God for his faithfulness to my little girls.
