Held by God

Mel’s Story

I came to Liverpool way back in 1992, as part of a year long ‘Youth With A Mission’ team. Every Friday morning we would partner with people from the Tab, some of the team doing decorating to get the coffee shop open, and Laura and me helping with the Preschool. I thought I was coming to Liverpool for just a year, but God had other plans. These days I am actually teaching the child of one of those original Preschool children. In between, there have been some wonderful times, getting married, raising two sons, laughing with the Summer Kids’ Club team, and some tough times, bereavement and illness. I can say that through all of them, God has been with me, faithfully keeping hold of me, when I could not hold on to him. He has encouraged and cared for me, speaking through the bible, through songs and preaches, through prayer and through my family at the Tab.

Right now, things are not easy, but I have been reminded to look at God’s faithfulness again in Psalm 121 ‘My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth’. and ‘The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.’ How amazing to know that the God who is powerful enough to create everything actually cares for, and is involved in my day to day comings and goings.
